2017 Charity Fundraising

For the winter of 2017  we decided to support the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (formerly Yorkhill Royal Hospital for Sick Children) and as such we tried to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile local cause, including complete the Santa Dash in Glasgow in temperatures of minus 4.

And on Wednesday 7th February 2018 we were delighted to present a cheque to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for a grand total of £2,130.25

Previous charities we have supported in 2014-2016.

Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP) help children and teenagers suffering from cancer or leukaemia in Scotland. We also help diagnosed families and bereaved families express and share with each other the feelings, anxieties, and horror of having a child with a life-threatening illness and provide practical and emotional support.

Transaid is an international development charity who identify, champion, implement and share local transport solutions to improve access to basic services and economic opportunity for people in Africa and in developing countries. They partner with local communities, governments, donors and organisations to achieve their aims and facilitate exchange of skills and knowledge gained from their projects.

SAMH is the Scottish Association for Mental Healthround- Around since 1923, SAMH currently operates over 60 services in communities across Scotland providing mental health social care support, homelessness, addictions and employment services, among others. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) – each of us has a responsibility to keep childhood free from abuse, and we must do everything possible to protect children and prevent it from happening. So if a law needs to change, or if more needs to be done to protect children, we demand it. The fact that we’re independent – relying on the public to fund our work – means we can push for change when others can’t.

Poppy Scotland provides life-changing support to our Armed Forces community.  We reach out to those who have served, those still serving, and their families at times of crisis and need by offering vital, practical advice, assistance and funding.  We believe that those who serve or have served, whether regular or reserve, are deserving of our support to live life fully without disadvantage after service.  No veteran should live without the prospect of employment, good health and a home, and we all have a part to play in achieving this.
